Sliced beef with peppers on a blue plate

Slow cooked flavor in a flash!

I am the queen of failure to plan! Most nights I have good intentions of putting things out to prepare for supper the next night. Most mornings, those good intentions are long forgotten.

When my sweet Momma gave me my first Electric Pressure Cooker, I admit, I was a little afraid of it. It wasn't long that I learned how much it would improve my cooking life. I love to make simple things that give me trouble like, DEVILED EGGS and RICE. But where the Electric Pressure Cooker shines is with recipes that are normally slow cooked for hours at a time, like these BABY BACK RIBS and of course this recipe for Italian Sliced Beef I am about to share with you.

How to Make It

I love my crock pot because you can just dump the ingredients in, set it and come back in 4-8 hours and your meal is ready. This is a lot like that, only much quicker!

~Ingredients

  • ½ whole, sliced Onion
  • 1 whole, sliced Green Bell Pepper
  • 1-2 pounds, sliced Bottom Round Beef Steak
  • to taste Salt and Pepper
  • 2 cubes Beef Bouillon
  • 1 package Dry Italian Seasoning Mix
  • 1 cup Water

~Method

  1. Prep all ingredients.
  2. Add the meat in first, then, add the veggies.
  3. Sprinkle seasoning on top, add water. Seal and set manually to 40 minutes.
  4. Allow the pressure to naturally release and serve!

Tips and Tricks

Can I use another cut of Beef or different Vegetables?

Yes! I like the bottom round steak because it is cost effective. However, any non fatty cut of beef will work very well, just slice it thin. On the veggies, the best ones are the ones you have on hand! Get Creative

Can I use another flavor of seasoning?

I have used the powdered Ranch seasoning before and it is very good too. I love to always just get your wheels turning and get you cooking. I would say any seasoning that you think would go well with beef and compliment its flavor.

Can I make gravy to go with this?

Yes! Strain the pan drippings and add them back to the pot. Add in a little flour and butter. Bring to a boil and whisk until it reaches the desired thickness.

What is the best way to serve this?

This is a very versatile recipe. It is great alone for a low carb meal or paired with some cauliflower rice. It is also good for the carb lover and is great served over mashed potatoes or regular rice. Another great way is as a Philly Steak sandwich!

How to make it a little different

One of my family's favorites for me to make in the Instant Pot is Philly cheesesteaks. I use this recipe for those. Along with beautiful sourdough rolls and decadent provolone cheese slices. This dish, however, can be used any number of ways. it is versatile enough to be served even alone over brown or white rice.  Like most all of my recipes, you can double it to feed more people. This is for my little family unit of 4.

For cheesesteaks, pile the meat and veggies on a toasted roll and add a slice of cheese. We like provolone. It's a good compliment to the beef. Place under the broiler for a few minutes to melt the cheese. So, So, So, Soooooo good! Use the sauce to pour over, or for dipping.
